City of Grand Rapids Names Tom Almonte Assistant to the City Manager

City Manager Greg Sundstrom has appointed Mr. Tom Almonte as Assistant to the City Manager, effective October 13, 2009. Nine employees participated in the competitive process for this position.

Mr. Almonte has worked for the City of Grand Rapids since 2004, most recently as a Business Developer in the Economic Development and Equal Opportunity Departments. He has a rich background in community involvement and is a former president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He worked diligently on the City’s Spanish-Speaking Customer Service Process Improvement Team, concentrating on the areas of translation, signage in City Hall, and technology. “I am very pleased with Tom’s contributions to our organization and look forward to his continued commitment” said Sundstrom.

“I am passionate about the people of the City of Grand Rapids. It will be an honor to serve the City in this role” said Almonte.
