Senator Menendez will join DANR Board to Honor a Distinguished U.S. Doctor of Dominican Descent
Washington, DC.–The Honorable Robert Menendez, United States Senator for the Great State of New Jersey, will join DANR President Nestor Montilla and the DANR Board at the DANR National Leadership Summit in Washington, DC to honor Dr. Salomon Melgen, MD, a distinguished U.S. ophthalmologist of Dominican descent.
“On behalf of the DANR Board, I look forward to welcoming U.S. Senator Menendez to our National Summit slated to take place November 18-20, 2010 in Washington, DC,” said DANR President Nestor Montilla. “Senator Menendez, a long-time friend and supporter of the DANR, will join our National Board of Directors and our summit participants in honoring Dr. Melgen with DANR Guanin National Science Award for his outstanding contributions to medicine and our communities in the United States.”
Dr. Salomon Melgen is the only Hispanic Ophthalmologist in Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie
County in the State of Florida. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and the founder of Melgen Eye Center, specializing in diseases and surgery of the vitreous and retina.
Dr. Melgen is a Director of the American Board of Eye Surgery and is a clinical scientific associate at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Harvard Medical School. He is a Fellow of the American
Academy, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Melgen has been practicing for over 20 years and has developed a strong admirable and respected reputation within the Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast.
