Registration Open for July 27th Welcoming Reception of DANR’s 15th Annual Leadership Summit and Historic Celebration in Washington, DC

Washington, DC (June 25, 2012)— The 2012 National Youth Fellowship Program and the 15th Annual Leadership Summit of the Dominican American National Roundtable will take place in Washington, DC at the end of July. Welcome Reception regular registration is open until July 26th. Register Now Here.
The first part of the Fellowship Program will be from Sunday, July 21st to Sunday, July 29th, 2012. Ten college students from around the U.S. will participate this year undergoing intense training in DC during the summer and in their home states in the fall 2012. The program’s theme is “Civic Engagement: Leading the Next Generation Towards Advocacy and Reform.”
The DANR 15th Annual Leadership Summit will take place from Thursday, July 26th to Sunday, July 29th. Highlights include:
Thursday, July 26th 9am to 5pm – Annual National Legislative Day
Friday, July 27th –8am Registration Open
8:30am – 10pm – Meeting of the DANR & NDAC Board of Directors and volunteers
10am – 3:30pm Morning and afternoon workshops –U.S. Capitol Visitor Center (Free with registration)
Friday, July 27th 4pm – 8pm – Welcome Reception at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center (limited space to 400 guests)
-Premiere of “The Dominican List”, a publication and audiovisual account of Dominican past and present contributions to the United States.
-Awards Ceremony: Honorees include: singers Monchy & Nathalia, Julissa Marenco, President of Telemundo ZGS, Nelson Valdez, Vice President of 1199, RI Senator Juan Pichardo, Dr. Karina Edmonds Montilla, Ph.D., NASA Technology Specialist, Dr. Ramona Hernandez, Executive Director of the Dominican Studies Institute, Felipe Lopez, former NBA player, and among others, author Diogenes Ramon Abreu.
The welcome reception will be attended by singer Milly Quezada, Monchy & Nathalia, inductees in The Dominican List, personalities, leaders, students sponsors, DANR members and guests from the U.S. diverse communities, including Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
